Similar Associations

As the sixty-five member schools of ATS are keen to be part of an association of like-minded, Independent Trust schools, so ATS has developed strong links with its counterparts in other countries. For many years there has been a close bond between ATS and ISASA in South Africa, not least as many Zimbabweans have gone on to be highly-respected Heads of independent schools in South Africa but also as many Zimbabwean teachers are much sought-after in that country too. A representative from SAHISA / ISASA is invited to the CHISZ Conference each year while a CHISZ delegate is also invited to the SAHISA Conference.

In recent years, a similar link has developed with the burgeoning private schools in Botswana while ATS is currently working on developing such relationships with counterparts in the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States.

ISASA

“ISASA is the oldest, largest and most inclusive independent (private) schools association in the Southern African region. It is a non-profit organisation that represents its members and provides them with services to protect their interests, promote best practice and support quality education and school sustainability.

ISASA serves over 740 private schools representing a broad spectrum of socio-economic and cultural communities, religious affiliations, philosophies and educational levels, from pre-school to post-matric. Our member schools educate more than 165 000 pupils.”

SAHISA

“The Southern African Heads of Independent Schools Association is a professional membership organisation for heads and principals of ISASA-affiliated schools.
SAHISA strives to foster collegiality and the professional development of heads and their staff, by creating a forum for interaction and mutual support.

SAHISA promotes the highest standards of professional practice and conduct of its members in order to ensure quality independent education for learners in their schools.
It also seeks to use its expertise and collective voice to promote the profession and contribute to invigorating education in Southern Africa.”

HMC

Zimbabwe and Britain have had long associations and the link remains with many schools in the UK excited by Zimbabwean pupils. There is great value in CHISZ relating closely with HMC. Two ATS schools are currently Overseas Members of the HMC.

influence policy and public opinion with regard to the independent sector.”

CHOPS (BOTSWANA)

There has been an increase in the number of private schools in Zimbabwe over the last ten years or so and so a close link has been developed across the border with our neighbour, where again many Zimbabwean teachers now fulfil their calling.

ATS is looking to develop relationships beyond these boundaries so that we may learn from experiences of others and so that Zimbabwe may contribute significantly to the educational debate worldwide.
